This Cookie Policy explains how OSS Discovery ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit http://www.ossdiscovery.site.

This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.

01

WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work correctly, remember your preferences, and provide information to website owners.

Cookies are stored in your browser and can be read by the website that placed them. They help us recognize your device when you return to our Services.

02

HOW WE USE COOKIES

We use cookies for one purpose only:

Authentication — to keep you logged in to your OSS Discovery account during your session. Without this cookie, you would be logged out every time you navigate to a new page.

We do NOT use cookies for:

  • Advertising or retargeting
  • Cross-site tracking
  • Analytics or behavior monitoring
  • Marketing or promotional purposes
  • Selling data to third parties
03

THIRD PARTY COOKIES

We do not permit third parties to place cookies on our Services for advertising, analytics, or tracking.

Our infrastructure providers (Supabase and Vercel) may set technical cookies necessary for the operation of their services. These are strictly operational and do not track you across other websites.

We do not use:

  • Google Analytics cookies
  • Facebook Pixel
  • Any advertising network cookies
  • Any social media tracking cookies
05

LOCAL STORAGE

In addition to cookies, we use your browser's localStorage to store your search history locally on your device.

What we store in localStorage:

Keysearch_history (or similar)
ContentsYour recent search queries on OSS Discovery
Where it livesYour browser only — never sent to our servers
PurposeTo show your search history in your dashboard under Nav Log
Can be clearedYes — clearing your browser's localStorage or site data removes this

localStorage data:

  • Never leaves your device
  • Is not accessible to us or any third party
  • Is not a cookie — it is browser storage
  • Can be cleared at any time through your browser settings
06

YOUR COOKIE CHOICES

Since we only use strictly necessary cookies, most cookie opt-out mechanisms do not apply to our Services.

Browser settings:

You can set your browser to refuse all cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent. Note that disabling cookies will prevent you from staying logged in to OSS Discovery.

How to manage cookies in common browsers:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Cookies
  • Edge: Settings → Privacy → Cookies

Clearing localStorage:

To clear your locally stored search history:

  • Chrome/Edge: DevTools → Application → Local Storage → Clear
  • Firefox: DevTools → Storage → Local Storage → Clear
  • Or simply log out — clearing account data removes associated localStorage entries

Account deletion:

If you delete your OSS Discovery account, all server-side data associated with your account is removed within 30 days. localStorage data can be cleared manually as described above.

Do Not Track:

We do not currently respond to Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals as no uniform standard has been finalized. Since we do not engage in cross-site tracking, DNT signals have no practical effect on our cookie usage.

07

UPDATES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. The updated version will be indicated by an updated date at the top of this page.

Since we only use strictly necessary cookies, significant changes to this policy are unlikely unless we introduce new features that require additional cookie usage. If we do so, we will update this policy and notify you via email and a prominent notice on our Services.
